Certificate III in Barbering SHB30516

 Enrolments for 2020 Open!

Marjorie Milner College was very happy and excited to announce that the SHB training package was endorsed on the 31st March 2016. Part of the SHB training package is the SHB30516 Certificate III in Barbering Course.  Please find the enrolment information and a link to the fees page below.

What’s included in this course:

Qualification of SHB30516 Certificate III in Barbering
Flexible start date for all enrolments (positive for barbering employers)
Opportunities for competition work

The Certificate III in Barbering involves theory and practical work which will develop your skills in barbering services and in working as a team within a barbering environment. Such skills may include communicating in the workplace, consulting with clients, selling products and services, and designing and applying a broad range of technical barbering services on clients.

After finishing the Certificate III in Barbering qualification, you will be a qualified barber with a range of well-developed skills.

Live clients
Marjorie Milner College recommends that as part of your course, you invite your family and friends to practice on. A small fee will be charged to cover the cost of products and services. If you can’t find models, MMC will attempt to source clients for practical sessions.

Once you have completed Certificate III in Barbering you can start working in a Melbourne Barber Shop. You may also choose to travel around Australia and work in a series of different shop environments. The barbering qualification is recognised Australia wide. You may also move into different areas of the barbering and hairdressing industry including working with product companies or utilise your barbering skills overseas.

Classes follow the Victorian school term dates, with four terms to a year. Classes will run on a Thursday and Friday each week between 9:00am and 4:30pm at the Surrey Hills Campus. Weekend classes may be available depending on trainer availability and student numbers. The qualification is a maximum of 855 hours in Victoria which should take students approximately one year to finish. As training is competency based it may take some students longer and some students may be able to finish faster.

There is professional equipment and tools that are required to work within the Barbering Industry. These must be sourced by the student using a barbering equipment list provided by Marjorie Milner College. Marjorie Milner College can recommend suppliers that hold the relevant equipment you will need. Students are not expected to buy all equipment for the beginning of the course, instead many students will build up their kit over time. The price quoted under the fees page is an approximation only. Some students may choose to purchase tools that are more expensive than those that we used for the cost approximation.
